ガイア理論(Gaia theory)
私はよく、人間に細胞があるように、人間や動物も地球の細胞のひとつとして生きているのではないかと考える。
同じように考えている人が他にいないかと思い、インターネットで検索したところ、ガイア理論というものに出会った。その理論は、私が考えていることと似たようなことを主張している。
その説を裏付けるさまざまな証拠や根拠が示されているが、ここではそれらを論じるのではなく、もしガイア理論が正しいとしたらどうなのかを考えてみたい。
地球そのものが生命体であるとすれば、地球上で起こるさまざまな異常気象や異常現象は、地球上で起こる病気のようなものだろう。
つまり、ガイア理論によれば、地球の自然のバランスが崩れ、自己調整機能が働き、地球の存在を維持するために地球温暖化や自然災害を引き起こしているということになる。もしガイア理論が本当なら私たち人間は、地球温暖化や異常気象をそれほど深刻に考える必要はないのかもしれない。むしろそれは、地球のバランスを調節するために必要不可欠なものなのかもしれない。
かもしれない、かもしれないばかりで根拠にかけるがたまにこういうことを考えるのも悪くない、ワクワクする。
幼少期から物事に対し、”そもそも”を提起することが好きだった私は、全ての事象に対して疑問と持論を常に持ってしまう厄介で実にめんどくさい体質になってしまったようだ。しかし、ふとした時にインターネットで私の考えていることを検索してみると意外にも似たような理論や質問が転がっている。私のような人が他にいたのか。私と同じようなことを考えている人が世界にいるのだと。考えると驚きと少しの嬉しさを感じる。
今回はガイア理論という哲学的で少しぶっ飛んでいるように感じる理論に軽く触れたが、ときにはこの理論のような変わった視点で、世界を俯瞰してみるのも良いのかもしれない。
また、今回はあえて英訳もつけることにする。私に共感してくれる人が少しでも増えてくれることを願ってだ。(まあそもそも私のブログなど見に来てくれるひとがいるようには思えないが,,,,,)

I often wonder if humans and animals live as one of the cells of the earth, just as we have cells.
I searched the Internet to see if anyone else thought the same way, and came across something called the Gaia Theory. The theory claims something similar to what I am thinking.
Various evidences and evidence have been presented to support the theory, but instead of discussing them here, I would like to consider what would happen if the Gaia Theory were correct.
If the earth itself is a living organism, then the various abnormal weather conditions and unusual phenomena that occur on the earth would be like diseases on the earth.
In other words, according to the Gaia Theory, the Earth's natural balance is out of balance and its self-regulating function is at work, causing global warming and natural disasters in order to maintain the Earth's existence. If the Gaia theory is true, we humans may not need to take global warming and extreme weather events so seriously. Rather, it may be essential to regulate the balance of the earth.
It is exciting to think about such things from time to time, even though there is no evidence to support it.
Since I was a child, I have always been fond of raising the question of "why things are the way they are," and it seems that I have developed a nasty and troublesome constitution that always has questions and pet theories about everything. However, when I searched the Internet for what I was thinking about, I found, to my surprise, similar theories and questions lying around. Were there others like me? I wondered if there were others in the world who were thinking the same way I was. I feel surprised and a little happy when I think about it.
This time, I lightly touched on the Gaia Theory, a theory that seems philosophical and a bit outlandish, but sometimes it is good to look at the world from an unusual perspective like this theory.
